The Illinois hospital where Monique Tepe’s ex-husband worked has released a brief statement following his arrest in connection with the deaths of Monique Tepe and her husband, Spencer Tepe.
Michael David McKee, 39, was arrested over the weekend on murder charges, days after Monique, 39, and Spencer, 37, were found dead in their Columbus, Ohio, home.
McKee was briefly married to Monique in 2015. Court filings show she filed for divorce in 2017.
A vascular surgeon, McKee was employed at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois, at the time of the killings. In a statement issued Monday, Jan. 13, the medical center said it is “cooperating with authorities” and directed further questions to law enforcement.

Monique and Spencer met online and married in 2020.
On the morning of Dec. 30, after Spencer’s co-workers requested multiple wellness checks, police found the couple deceased from gunshot wounds.
Their two children, ages 4 and 1, were inside the home and, according to police estimates, were alone for hours with the bodies. The children were physically unharmed.
McKee has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder, according to court documents. He was initially arrested on murder charges, which were upgraded on Sunday, Jan. 11.
He appeared in an Illinois court on Monday and waived his right to an extradition hearing. His attorney said he plans to enter pleas of not guilty.
