President Donald Trump’s message of “peace through strength” is making an impact in Europe, Kosovo’s president said Tuesday, describing the commander-in-chief as a pivotal figure in maintaining stability between her country and neighboring Serbia.
“The president [Trump] has always been a leader who speaks with clarity, strength, and conviction. As he takes the stage at the United Nations today, we expect a strong message of peace through strength — a message that has already resonated in our part of Europe, because it is the only message that autocrats and rogue leaders around the world who aim to kill and inflict suffering understand,” Kosovan President Vjosa Osmani told “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday.
Osmani, who highlighted Kosovo’s close alliance with the U.S., credited Trump with effectively preventing escalations and potential conflicts in the region, particularly between Kosovo and Serbia.
In June, Trump emphasized his achievements in brokering peace agreements among nations with longstanding conflicts, including Kosovo and Serbia.
Osmani noted that the region has faced multiple “flare-ups” in recent years, praising the combined efforts of NATO allies and the Trump administration in maintaining peace.
“In September 2023, Serbia committed an act of aggression against the Republic of Kosovo. With the support of our NATO allies, we successfully thwarted it. Nonetheless, Serbia continues to pose a persistent threat,” she said.
“This past May, there was another attempted flare-up, and this administration has done a remarkable job preventing these incidents from escalating,” Osmani added.
Kosovo and Serbia have experienced ongoing tensions since Kosovo declared independence in 2008, a status Serbia does not recognize. Osmani emphasized that “prevention and deterrence” have been critical to regional stability, and that a new generation, shaped by peace rather than conflict, is emerging.
“We are a country where every generation before ours had to endure war,” she said. “Thanks to American leadership, our children can now go to bed without the sound of gunfire or the fear we grew up with as children of war.”
Osmani concluded by expressing her confidence in Trump’s “peace through strength” approach as a continuing force for stability in the region.
