A late-night shooting in Southern California has left a local father dead and another man injured, with authorities continuing to search for the suspect.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD), deputies responded to a report of gunfire at Cosmos Taverna, a sports bar and nightclub in Victorville—about 85 miles northeast of Los Angeles—shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28.
When deputies arrived, they found a crowd of approximately 50 to 100 people gathered in the parking lot. Two individuals were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim, identified as D’Shaun Holden, 35, of Adelanto, California, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 35-year-old man whose name has not been released, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Investigators reported that the shooter fled before law enforcement arrived. The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Holden was a father of five and is survived by his fiancée, parents, and siblings, according to the Victorville Daily Press. In the wake of his death, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help cover funeral expenses.
“Dee was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind his five children, his fiancée, his mother and father, and his sisters and brothers,” his family wrote on the fundraising page. “He was truly a family man who would do anything for anyone who asked.”
They also described him as a deeply genuine person whose presence touched many lives, adding that they were grateful for the time they shared with him.
The SBCSD has not released any details about the suspect’s identity or description. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the Dec. 28 shooting to contact the department’s Homicide Detail at 909-890-4904.
