FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino says the level of corruption he’s uncovered during his six-month tenure has left him “shattered to my core,” as the agency faces mounting scrutiny over its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

In a candid and emotional post shared Saturday on X (formerly Twitter), Bongino said he’s committed to exposing the truth, despite intense criticism and internal tensions within the Justice Department.

“During my time as Deputy Director of the FBI, I’ve come across things that have shaken me deeply,” Bongino wrote. “We cannot run a republic like this. I’ll never be the same after learning what I’ve learned.”

Bongino emphasized that both he and FBI Director Kash Patel are determined to root out public corruption and put an end to the political weaponization of federal law enforcement. “It’s a priority for us,” he said.

He added that the agency is conducting “righteous and proper investigations by the book and in accordance with the law” and promised transparency. “We are going to get the answers WE ALL DESERVE,” he wrote. “Not ‘my truth,’ or ‘your truth,’ but THE TRUTH. God bless America, and all those who defend Her.”

The statement comes amid ongoing backlash over how Epstein-related files have been handled under Bongino’s leadership. Critics have accused the agency of dragging its feet and protecting powerful interests.

Internal Tensions and Resignation Rumors

Bongino’s remarks also follow reports of a growing rift between him and Attorney General Pam Bondi. According to sources who spoke with Axios, the two have clashed repeatedly over the direction and management of the Epstein case.

While Bongino has not publicly addressed the reports of possible resignation, his Saturday post hinted at internal struggles, though he reaffirmed his commitment to the agency’s mission.

Attorney General Bondi, for her part, has dismissed any speculation about stepping down. “I’m going to be here for as long as the president wants me here,” she said earlier this month.

As the investigation into Epstein’s network continues, Bongino’s public vow to reveal the truth is likely to intensify political pressure on the FBI and Justice Department in the coming weeks.
