FBI Director Kash Patel announced Sunday that the agency is looking into “theories and questions” about the Sept. 10 assassination of Charlie Kirk.
In a post on X, Patel said he is “committed to ensuring the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination is thorough and exhaustive.”
“We are examining every part of this assassination,” he said, addressing some of the theories that have been circulating.
Patel added, “We are carefully investigating theories and questions, including the location of the shot, whether there were accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was moved, hand gestures near Charlie at the time, and visitors to the alleged shooter’s home before September 10, 2025.”
Patel said that while some details are “known today,” law enforcement is still looking into other aspects “to make sure every possibility is considered.”
“Our main goal is to finish this investigation and deliver justice,” he added. “To protect the investigation and future prosecution, we cannot release every detail to the public right now.”
He also addressed questions about a plane that was reported to have turned off its transponder after leaving near Orem, Utah, where Kirk was shot.
“We will share updates about the plane when answers are confirmed,” Patel said. “After talking to the pilot and consulting with the FAA, we found the transponder was not turned off. The apparent gap was caused by incomplete flight data in rural areas.”

Patel concluded, “The entire FBI mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk. We will not rest until justice is served, and our investigation will continue until every question is answered.”
Patel’s post came the same day as a memorial for Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Vice President JD Vance, one of the speakers, wrote on X that he returned to Arizona to “remember Charlie and honor his sacrifice.”

“Last week, we brought my dear friend Charlie Kirk home one last time,” Vance said. “May he eternally rest in peace, and may God watch over Erika and their beautiful children.”
