After years of speculation and conspiracy theories, a joint investigation by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice has concluded that there is no evidence Jeffrey Epstein maintained a secret “client list” or was murdered while in custody.

The probe reaffirmed that Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges—supporting the original ruling by the New York City medical examiner.

According to a memo obtained by Axios, investigators found no credible evidence that Epstein had blackmailed wealthy or influential individuals. The memo explicitly states there is “no evidence that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals” and no proof of a so-called blackmail “roster” involving politicians, celebrities, or business leaders.

This conclusion directly challenges long-held public rumors that Epstein operated a secret network of powerful clients for illicit purposes.

The report also confirms that video surveillance footage—now expected to be released by the Trump administration—supports the official account that Epstein died by suicide, not foul play.

Earlier this year, the DOJ made headlines by releasing Epstein’s contact book as part of a tranche of unsealed court records, fueling renewed public interest. However, officials say none of those contacts indicate the existence of a criminal client list.

The findings appear aimed at shutting down years of speculation and putting to rest one of the most controversial aspects of the Epstein case.
