Donald Trump’s latest feud with a late-night host received unexpected reinforcement from the head of the Federal Communications Commission.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Trump, 79, blasted Late Night host Seth Meyers, 51, on Truth Social, accusing him of having “an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).”
“He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his ‘show’ is a Ratings DISASTER,” Trump wrote. “Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC should fire him, IMMEDIATELY!”
Roughly 30 minutes later, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr posted a screenshot of Trump’s message on X, offering no commentary — but signaling alignment.

Carr, 46, was elevated to the top FCC role by Trump after the 2024 election and has backed the president in multiple recent disputes involving television hosts. That includes the temporary September suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show following controversial comments about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street at the time, Carr argued that Kimmel’s remarks were “appearing to directly mislead the American public about a significant fact,” adding: “Our goal and our obligation here is to make sure that broadcasters are serving the public interest.”
Trump has frequently attacked late-night personalities, including Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert. In early November, he shifted focus to Meyers.
On Nov. 1, Trump posted on Truth Social: “Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television… I watched his show the other night for the first time in years.” He mocked Meyers for commentary about aircraft carrier catapults and called the host “a truly deranged lunatic.”
Meyers addressed the online insults on his own show two days later. After listing Trump’s accusations — including that Meyers talks “endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers” — the comedian fired back:
“You’re the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”
Trump also criticized NBC’s decision to extend Meyers’ contract through 2028, referring to the host as having “no Ratings, Talent, or Intelligence,” even though the renewal had been reported more than a year earlier.

Carr has continued to share pro-Trump messaging. On Sunday, Nov. 16, he posted a photo with the former president, praising Trump’s policies as “unleashing a new wave of growth and innovation in communities across the country.”
Meyers publicly defended Kimmel during his own clashes with Trump, applauding the show’s return to air and dismissing what he described as bullying and censorship attempts.
“There has been a massive national backlash to Trump’s crackdown on free speech, even among conservatives,” he said during a Sept. 23 broadcast.
The Late Night host has also spoken out against political violence, calling the July 2024 assassination attempt on Trump “morally wrong” and “a poison to democracy.”
