A 9-month-old girl was killed in a shooting outside a motel in Georgia, and five people have been charged in connection with the incident.
The shooting took place on Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Cobb County, Ga., near Atlanta, according to 11 Alive, Atlanta News First, and WHSV.
11 Alive reported that a woman staying at the motel said a mother rushed into her room, saying her child had been shot.
The girl, identified by Atlanta News First as Aziah McDougle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The outlets reported that Ladarrius Brown has been charged with murder and aggravated assault. Jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show that Brown is being held in custody on those charges.
Following Brown’s arrest, Jayvian Young and Camron Harris were also taken into custody. Jail records indicate Young faces the same charges as Brown, while Harris is charged with tampering with evidence and making false statements.
Atlanta News First later reported that two more men were arrested on Friday, Sept. 26. Jail records show Noah Martin is charged with murder and aggravated assault, while the other man is charged with evidence tampering.
11 Alive reported that the baby was caught in the crossfire between two of the men.
It is not yet clear if any of the individuals charged have entered a plea or retained attorneys.
