A former television news anchor has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her 80-year-old mother to death in Wichita, Kansas.
According to a media release posted on Facebook by the Sedgwick County Police Department (SCPD), officers responded to a “reported cutting” at a residence in Wichita around 7:52 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31.
When police arrived, they found 47-year-old Angelynn “Angie” Mock standing outside the home. Inside, they discovered her mother, Anita Avers, unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.
Avers was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead later that morning.
Mock was also treated for undisclosed injuries before being booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. She was charged with first-degree murder on Oct. 31 and is being held on a $1 million bond, according to county public records.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
Mock, who previously worked as a news anchor and reporter for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, later transitioned into a career in sales. According to her LinkedIn profile, she was employed by a data management software company at the time of her arrest.
Her alleged motive is unclear, and details regarding her initial court appearance have not yet been released.
