Fox News hosts Jesse Watters and Brian Kilmeade recently sparked debate after ranking America’s first ladies based on their looks.

During the Wednesday, Aug. 27 broadcast of The Five, the two discussed comments attributed to Vanity Fair global editorial director Mark Guiducci, who reportedly considered putting First Lady Melania Trump on the magazine’s cover.

Watters, 47, asked Kilmeade, 61, if more recent first ladies Jill Biden and Michelle Obama had ever been featured on Vanity Fair’s cover. Biden, 74, appeared once, while Obama, 61, was featured three times.

“Do you think those two women are prettier than Melania Trump?” Watters pressed. “Is it not about pretty? Is it about fashion? Because Melania’s also more fashionable.”

Kilmeade replied, “Right. She’s the most attractive first lady ever, let’s be honest.”

The exchange then took a lighthearted turn, with Kilmeade joking, “I have not seen Martha Washington,” prompting Watters to tease him about George Washington’s wife, who died in 1802. “She’s not your type?” Watters asked.

“The problem is when you have portraits instead of pictures—,” Kilmeade began, before Watters cut in: “You don’t really get a good look.”

Watters later brought up Jackie Kennedy Onassis, sparking another back-and-forth with Kilmeade over the point of the debate.

The discussion followed reports from Sunday, Aug. 24, that Guiducci, who became global editorial director in June, told Vanity Fair staff he had considered featuring Melania Trump on the cover to appeal to conservative readers, according to TheWrap.

The idea reportedly angered some staffers. One editor told The Daily Beast they would resign if it happened. “I will walk out the motherf—— door, and half my staff will follow me,” the editor said.

“We are not going to normalize this despot and his wife; we’re just not going to do it. We’re going to stand for what’s right. If [Guiducci] puts Melania on the cover, half of the editorial staff will walk out, I guarantee it.”
