A Georgia woman who shot and killed her husband has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and multiple firearm-related charges.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 19, 2022, Iesha Zenobia Harmon called 911 to report that she had shot her husband, Shedrick Harmon, inside their home in Decatur, Ga. She initially said the shooting was accidental, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors said Harmon told investigators that two firearms and unfolded laundry were on the couple’s bed. She claimed she picked up one of the guns incorrectly, causing it to discharge and strike her husband.

First responders found Shedrick Harmon unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his upper right torso. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Investigators later looked into the couple’s history and found evidence of ongoing conflict and instability in the relationship.

Prosecutors said text messages between the pair, along with statements from friends and family, pointed to a pattern that included violence, drug and alcohol use, and infidelity. Authorities also alleged that Harmon had threatened her husband with a firearm on several occasions.

On Dec. 1, 2025, Harmon, 45, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
