Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has accused former President Barack Obama of orchestrating what she calls a politically motivated effort to undermine the outcome of the 2016 election, alleging that Obama’s administration “subverted the will of the American people” by promoting the Trump–Russia collusion narrative.

Appearing on Fox News’ Hannity Friday night, Gabbard announced the declassification of over 100 documents tied to the origins of the Trump–Russia investigation, which she said reveal “overwhelming evidence” that the Obama White House and senior intelligence officials deliberately politicized intelligence in the wake of Donald Trump’s election victory.

“This is not just a partisan issue—it’s about the integrity and strength of our democratic republic,” Gabbard said. She claimed the documents outline how Obama, along with key figures like James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, and Susan Rice, intentionally crafted a “manufactured and politicized” intelligence narrative to fuel what became a years-long investigation and political assault on Trump.

According to Gabbard, the ultimate goal was to delegitimize Trump’s presidency and undo the results of the 2016 election. “They didn’t accept the American people’s decision,” she said. “They used a bogus narrative to wage a prolonged campaign against a duly elected president.”

She highlighted the fallout from the Russia probe, including the costly Mueller investigation, two impeachments, and the prosecution of Trump allies. “Taxpayers were billed nearly $40 million,” Gabbard said, blaming the Obama-era narrative for inflamed tensions with Russia and a deepening political divide.

Gabbard also criticized the now-discredited Steele dossier, which she claimed was central to the intelligence assessment pushed by the Obama administration despite warnings from officials that it lacked credibility. “Obama directed the creation of this narrative, using intelligence his own team said was unreliable,” she stated.

The DNI said she is formally referring the newly declassified documents to the Department of Justice and called for swift accountability. “This isn’t just about transparency. It’s about action,” she said. “The American people need to trust our institutions, and that trust can only be restored through accountability.”

On Saturday, Gabbard reiterated her claims during an appearance on Fox & Friends, calling the Obama administration’s actions a “treasonous conspiracy” and vowing that “no one—no matter how powerful—should be immune from accountability.”

Fox News has reached out to representatives of Barack Obama and several former intelligence officials named by Gabbard for comment.
