Videos spreading on social media platform X show crowds booing and shouting at federal agents in Washington, D.C. This happened shortly after the White House announced more National Guard troops would be deployed in the capital and that federal officers would patrol the streets 24/7. President Donald Trump also said his administration will take control of the city’s police department for at least a month.

On August 13, 2025, in the U Street neighborhood, protesters followed FBI agents through the streets, chanting and yelling.

‘Go Home Fascists’
One video shows people shouting phrases like “What’s wrong with you?” and “You don’t need to terrorize people!” Some were also heard using profanity. The post claimed the agents had arrested a Black woman in a car, though it was unclear why she was arrested.

Another post showed a man holding a sign reading “GO HOME FASCISTS.” In the video, people accused the agents of not helping anyone and mocked them about being paid overtime to “do nothing.”

One clip captured protesters cheering as some agents left the area in their vehicles. The person who posted it said locals quickly gathered with handmade signs warning drivers to avoid the block. People even shouted from apartment windows.

A final video showed the street empty of agents, with one person calling out, “See y’all tomorrow!” to scattered laughter.

According to the Associated Press, federal officers and city police made up to 43 arrests that day. However, D.C. Councilmember Christina Henderson suggested the situation wasn’t unusual, calling most of the arrests “a bunch of traffic stops” and saying it looked like “a normal Saturday night in any big city.”
