Gordon Ramsay is recovering after surgery to remove skin cancer.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, the 58-year-old celebrity chef posted on Instagram showing a bandage on his face, followed by another photo of a scar. He explained that doctors had removed Basal Cell Carcinoma — a common type of non-melanoma skin cancer.

A large bandage covered the side of his jaw below his ear after the surgery. In the second photo, once the bandage was removed, several stitches were visible.

“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma, thank you!” Ramsay wrote.

He also reminded his followers, “Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend ❤️,” joking, “I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund…….😜.”

Basal Cell Carcinoma usually looks like a small clear bump on the skin. It often appears on areas exposed to the sun, such as the head and neck, after years of ultraviolet radiation, according to Mayo Clinic.

Ramsay’s update comes after he was previously hospitalized following a serious biking accident.

In June 2024, the MasterChef star revealed on Instagram that he had “a really bad accident” while cycling in Connecticut. The crash left him with severe bruising across his torso.

“I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries, but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato,” Ramsay said at the time.

He added, “I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me … but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life.”

By December 2024, Ramsay shared another Instagram update saying the bruises had healed. He also posted a short video clip showing his recovery as part of a year-in-review montage.
