Guy Fieri doesn’t do subtle — and for one of the biggest ad moments of the year, he’s going all-in on a complete image overhaul.

The Food Network star says viewers will see a dramatically different version of him in an upcoming Super Bowl commercial for Bosch — one that swaps his signature goatee and spiky blond hair for a clean-cut, buttoned-up alter ego he calls “JustaGuy.”

“If you’re going to go big, go big,” Fieri said, explaining that the concept only worked if he fully committed. When the team asked whether he’d shave his goatee, he agreed, calling the Super Bowl spot too important to do halfway.

Bosch’s campaign, developed over months, plays on two versions of Fieri: the larger-than-life personality fans instantly recognize, and a toned-down counterpart designed to be convincing enough to make people do a double take — including his own family.

“I sent the picture to my mom and she said, ‘Who is that?’” Fieri recalled. “She said, ‘It really looks a lot like you, but I know it’s not you.’ I said, ‘Mom, that’s me.’”

The transformation was first teased publicly on Thursday, Jan. 22 — Fieri’s 58th birthday — when he posted a short Instagram video debuting the conservative look. In the clip, he wears a checkered button-down shirt, khaki trousers, and neatly parted brown hair — a sharp contrast to the usual Flavortown vibe.

“Hey there! After so many years of celebrating my birthday as Guy, I figured this year I’d celebrate it as just a guy,” he says in the video before blowing out the candles on his cake.

He captioned the post, “New Year. New Guy. New Look.” Fans quickly piled on with jokes about the unexpected makeover, with comments comparing him to an insurance salesman and a dad-joke machine. Even his eldest son, Hunter, joined in, quipping: “Dad… when did you start selling insurance? 😂”

In 2026 fashion, some viewers immediately suspected artificial intelligence. Bosch, however, said the video wasn’t AI, adding that the “JustaGuy” effect was achieved with high-end post-production visual effects.

Fieri says the birthday tease was intentionally timed as a playful preview — but the main event is the full Bosch commercial airing during the Super Bowl on Feb. 8. He described the shoot as one of the most intense productions of his career, spanning two packed days with multiple sets, cameras, and CGI elements.

“It was the craziest 24 to 36 hours of my filming career,” he said. “We shot it like a movie. Nothing was spared.”

And becoming “JustaGuy,” he added, wasn’t as simple as changing outfits. The wig alone took about two hours to apply each day — the opposite of his famously quick hair routine.

“It took two hours to put the wig on,” he said, laughing. “When you see the picture, you’re either going to want to buy a life insurance policy from me or you’re going to want to go out to Bingo.”

Even his wife, Lori, reportedly had to do double takes on set. He says she’d look at him and realize, a beat later, who she was actually seeing.

The concept came together through collaboration with Bosch leadership, as the brand aimed to balance innovation, humor, and surprise in the Super Bowl’s most crowded advertising window. Fieri said the team wanted to push beyond the obvious and lean into something that would spark a moment of genuine confusion.

The goal, he said, is simple: make viewers question what they’re seeing — at least for a few seconds.

“If there aren’t about 10 seconds where people say, ‘Is that really him?’ then I’ll be 100 percent wrong,” he teased. “But I won’t be.”

And while “JustaGuy” may have debuted on his birthday, Fieri insists the real punchline is still coming.

“Be prepared for the Super Bowl commercial,” he said. “You’re not ready.”
