A 75-year-old Manhattan luxury real estate agent, Gail Bomze, is facing charges after allegedly biting a 7-year-old girl during a free t-shirt giveaway at a Hamptons concert. Bomze, however, insists she did nothing wrong.
According to an arrest report reviewed by Page Six, Bomze — who previously sold a $4 million apartment for talk show host Geraldo Rivera — was at an East Hampton concert last week when the altercation broke out. Police say she punched and kicked other attendees before allegedly biting a child.
Witnesses reported that Bomze became aggressive as free t-shirts were being tossed into the crowd. One 7-year-old girl told officers that Bomze grabbed her arm and bit her, breaking the skin and leaving her bloody and swollen.
The girl’s parents contacted police, but Bomze had already left the event. Authorities later identified her and arrested her on Tuesday, charging her with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released with an appearance ticket.
Her lawyer, Christopher McGuire, strongly rejected the accusations, describing Bomze as “a 75-year-old grandmother who categorically denies hurting anyone.” McGuire claimed Bomze was actually knocked to the ground by teenagers during the scuffle, leaving her bruised. He added that Bomze reported her concerns in writing to the event’s organizers, who apologized and promised to review safety measures.
The concert was part of the Tuesdays at Main summer series hosted by the East Hampton Village Foundation, now in its fifth season. CEO Bradford Billet called the event “a beloved, family-friendly tradition” and said the foundation “strongly condemns this alleged, isolated incident.” He emphasized that the safety and enjoyment of attendees remain the group’s top priority.
