A Louisiana man is facing a murder charge after allegedly confessing to injecting his mother with methamphetamine and then fatally beating her, authorities said.

Aaron Lloyd, 33, was arrested and booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail following the death of his 65-year-old mother, Lisa Lloyd. Police in Opelousas launched an investigation after neighbors discovered Lisa’s body stuffed inside a trash can under the carport of her home on Park Circle and called 911 on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, the Opelousas Police Department said that a male suspect admitted to killing his mother and placing her body in the trash can. Although police did not initially name the caller, they later located Aaron Lloyd at a separate location and brought him in for questioning.

According to investigators, Lloyd cooperated during the interrogation and confessed to injecting his mother with meth before beating her to death. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the killing.

Lloyd is now facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery, obstruction of justice, failure to seek assistance, and distribution of a Schedule II narcotic. He remains in custody, and no bond has been set as of Tuesday afternoon, the department confirmed.

In a statement, Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc described the case as “deeply tragic,” and asked the public to keep the Lloyd family in their thoughts.

“This is a heartbreaking situation involving a mother and her son,” LeBlanc said. “We ask the community to keep the family in prayer as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”

The investigation remains active, and authorities say additional updates may follow as they gather more information.
