A large police response is underway in Renton, Washington, following a reported shooting near Kirkland Avenue NE and NE 18th Street, authorities confirmed on Sunday evening. While details remain limited, police have indicated the possibility of multiple victims.

According to a report by KOMO News, at least three people may have been killed in the incident, though police have not officially confirmed the number of casualties.

The Renton Police Department issued a statement urging the public to steer clear of the area:

“This is an active scene, so expect a heavy police presence and please avoid the area.”

The shooting occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m., prompting an ongoing investigation.

Recent Violence in the Area

This latest incident comes just over a week after a separate shooting at a transit center in Renton, where a man was shot five times. That incident, reportedly stemming from a dispute between individuals, did not result in charges being filed, according to Fox13 Seattle.

Shooting Follows Vehicle Attack in Los Angeles

The Renton shooting also follows a violent incident in Los Angeles earlier Sunday, where a vehicle plowed into a crowd along Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, injuring more than 30 people, including seven critically. The driver was later located and found to have been shot, though the motive remains unclear.

Authorities have not linked the two incidents, but both contribute to a weekend marked by multiple outbreaks of violence across the country.Tools
