HGTV Star Dies at 56 Following ‘Sudden’ Health Complications, Costar Reveals in Touching Tribute

HGTV personality and electrician Frank Cozzolino has died at 56.

Cozzolino was best known for appearing on Holmes on Homes alongside host and longtime friend Mike Holmes, and later on spin-off series including Holmes Family Rescue. The Toronto-born electrician died on Thursday, Dec. 4, according to his obituary. He is survived by his partner, Lisa, and his daughters, Filomena and Alexandria.

Holmes shared the news in an emotional Instagram tribute, posting two photos of the pair together.

“I am devastated by the passing of my good friend Frank Cozzolino,” Holmes wrote. “Frank made us better. His impact will live on in every home he helped. Frank could walk into the toughest electrical disaster, crack a joke in his style, and suddenly the whole room felt lighter. That’s just who he was.”

Holmes added that Cozzolino “really cared” about the homeowners they served, and concluded by writing, “Frank will forever be part of the Holmes family. Miss you buddy.”

In an Instagram Reel posted on Tuesday, Dec. 9, Holmes said his friend had faced serious health challenges in recent years, and that a sudden complication led to his death.

“Frank has gone through hell,” Holmes said in the video, describing multiple liver-related health issues over the past several years. He added that Cozzolino died on Dec. 4 due to complications.

Holmes also reflected on first meeting Cozzolino on the set of Holmes on Homes, which premiered in Canada in 2003.

“Approximately 25 years ago, on the very first day of filming Holmes on Homes — it was a brand new show — at the end of the day, in walked an electrician. His name was Frank Cozzolino,” Holmes recalled.

He said Cozzolino introduced himself because he wanted to help the homeowners featured on the show. Holmes remembered telling him, “We don’t have the money. Can you help me help these people?” and said Cozzolino immediately agreed.

Cozzolino had shared photos with Holmes on his Instagram account over the years, including a May 2024 post from the set of Holmes Family Rescue. The franchise’s most recent installment, Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy, stars Holmes’ children Sherry and Mike Jr., who also shared tributes to Cozzolino on social media.

According to his obituary, Cozzolino founded his own company, Solutions Electrical, which it described as both successful and a reflection of his determination and work ethic.
