Kevin Sorbo, best known for his role as Hercules in the 1990s hit series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, says he was blacklisted from Hollywood more than a decade ago because of his outspoken conservative views and Christian faith — making him, in his words, the “first cancel culture victim.”
In a new interview with Fox News Digital, the 66-year-old actor shared his perspective on how Hollywood is changing, particularly under the renewed presidency of Donald Trump. According to Sorbo, studios are finally reconsidering their stance toward conservative and faith-based content — not out of ideology, but because they’re tired of losing money.
“Hollywood booted me a dozen years ago for posting things online that went against the narrative,” Sorbo said. “They hate truth, and they hate anybody who’s a Christian or conservative. So I’m a double leper to them — like kryptonite.”
After stepping away from traditional Hollywood, Sorbo and his wife launched their own production company, Sorbo Studios, through which he’s been producing four films a year. Many of these projects lean into faith-based themes and family-friendly messages.
“I hate that it happened, but I’m okay with it now,” Sorbo said. “And I do think there’s a shift happening. With Trump back in office, people might hate him publicly, but their lives are going to get better — trust me. Even studios are starting to reach out again.”
Sorbo revealed he’s been in early talks with major platforms like Netflix and Amazon, pitching scripts that aren’t overtly religious but still carry a message of hope and positivity — something he believes is sorely missing in modern entertainment.
“We’ve hit a tipping point,” Sorbo continued. “Hollywood is waking up because they’re bleeding money. They’re set to lose another $300 million on that woke Snow White remake. The public is fed up, and it showed in the last election. The pendulum is swinging back.”

Sorbo’s 2010 film What If…, which follows a businessman who gets a second chance at the life he was meant to lead, is being re-released for its 15th anniversary this August. The film stars Sorbo alongside Kristy Swanson, John Ratzenberger, and Debby Ryan.
“What If… is the kind of movie Hollywood used to make,” Sorbo said. “It’s got love, redemption, faith, laughter — everything that’s been missing from mainstream films lately. That’s why it still matters.”
The 15th anniversary theatrical release will include never-before-seen bonus features, including a cast reunion and roundtable discussion hosted by director Dallas Jenkins (The Chosen). Tickets are available on Fathom Events’ website.
As for the future, Sorbo remains hopeful that more space will open up for content that reflects his values.
“Let’s see what happens. Hollywood has a chance to turn things around,” he said. “And I’ll keep making movies that matter — whether they like it or not.”
