Kristin Cabot, Chief People Officer at data startup Astronomer, has resigned from her role just days after the company’s CEO, Andy Byron, stepped down following their headline-making appearance together at a Coldplay concert.
A company spokesperson confirmed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that Cabot is no longer with Astronomer. Her resignation follows a viral video from the July 16 Coldplay show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, where concert cameras caught Byron with his arms around Cabot. When the pair noticed they were on the kiss cam, Cabot quickly covered her face while Byron ducked out of view — a reaction that fueled speculation and internet frenzy.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin even joked from the stage that the two “might be having an affair,” further fanning the flames. The clip spread rapidly online, sparking memes, tabloid coverage, and broader conversations about workplace relationships and privacy in the smartphone era.
Neither Byron nor Cabot — both reportedly married — has commented publicly on the nature of their relationship.
Byron resigned on July 19, just three days after the concert. Cabot’s departure was made public later that week.
On July 21, interim CEO Pete DeJoy addressed the situation in a message titled “Moving Forward at Astronomer.”
“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies — let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world — ever encounter,” he wrote. “The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team, and while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name.”
DeJoy thanked employees for their resilience and reassured clients and partners that the company remained focused on its mission: “We won’t let you down.”
Requests for comment from Byron went unanswered, and PEOPLE has been unable to reach Cabot for a response.
