Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu nominates Donald Trump for Nobel Peace Prize: ‘He’s forging peace’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his efforts to promote peace across the Middle East and beyond. During a dinner at the White House on Monday, Netanyahu personally handed Trump a copy of the nomination letter, calling it “well deserved.”

“He’s forging peace as we speak, in one country, in one region after the other,” Netanyahu said.

Presenting the letter, Netanyahu told Trump, “I want to present to you, Mr. President, the letter I sent to the Nobel Prize Committee. It nominates you for the Peace Prize, which is well deserved.”

Trump appeared surprised by the gesture, replying,

“Thank you very much. This I didn’t know—wow, thank you very much. Coming from you… this is very meaningful.”

Netanyahu Applauds Trump’s Global Appeal

The Israeli leader also offered strong praise for Trump’s leadership, saying it’s deeply respected not only in Israel but around the world.

“I want to express the appreciation and admiration — not only of all Israelis, but of the Jewish people and many, many admirers around the world — for your leadership,” Netanyahu said.

Trump welcomed Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, describing them as “friends of mine for a long time,” and said their partnership had produced “tremendous success” that would continue in the years ahead.

Trump Confirms Iran Talks After Airstrikes

During the meeting, President Trump confirmed that the United States had agreed to begin talks with Iran, following recent U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“We have scheduled Iran talks, and they want to,” Trump said. “They want to talk.”

His Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, added that the meeting could take place “soon, perhaps in a week.”

Trump on Russia-Ukraine War: ‘I Hate to See People Killed’

Trump also weighed in on the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, expressing dismay over the continued bloodshed.

“What’s happening between Russia and Ukraine is a horrible thing, and I’m not happy with President Putin at all,” he said. “I’m stopping wars, and I hate to see people killed.”

He added that thousands of Russians and Ukrainians continue to lose their lives each week in the conflict and reiterated his desire to bring an end to the violence.
