The president didn’t hold back in praising his young press secretary during a Newsmax appearance.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 27, may be facing some uncomfortable follow-up questions after President Donald Trump, 79, offered strikingly personal praise during his latest interview.
“It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun,” Trump remarked.
The president made the comments during a Friday night interview with Newsmax host Rob Finnerty, where he also emphasized that Leavitt has “become a star” in her role.
“She’s great. She’s a great person, actually,” Trump said. “I don’t think anybody has ever had a better press secretary than Karoline. She’s been amazing.”
Leavitt joined Trump’s team in January 2024 as his national press secretary for the campaign trail. Last year, she was appointed White House press secretary—becoming the youngest person ever to hold the position.
Leavitt is known for her staunch positions, including her push to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America,” and her unwavering defense of President Trump. She recently asserted it’s “well past time” for Trump to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomatic efforts.
In her personal life, Leavitt tied the knot with real estate developer Nicholas Riccio, 59, in January—just ahead of Trump’s second inauguration.
Beyond his remarks about Leavitt, Trump’s 20-minute conversation with Finnerty touched on a range of topics, including the Sydney Sweeney-American Eagle jeans ad controversy.
“I think the Dylan Mulvaney ad was perhaps the most unsuccessful ad in history,” Trump said, responding to a question about whether Americans need “more ads like that” instead of ones featuring figures like Dylan Mulvaney.
Mulvaney, a transgender actor, sparked backlash among conservatives after appearing in a Bud Light ad in 2023.
