JD Vance is a proud father of three children — Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel — whom he shares with his wife, Usha Vance.
Though the vice president tends to keep his family life private, he gave a touching mention of his middle child while speaking on the Senate floor in February 2024. During a debate on an aid package for Ukraine, he noted that he had missed celebrating his son’s 4th birthday, saying, “But I want you to know that Daddy loves you very much,” before reading the entirety of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go! “into the record, because maybe you can watch it at home,” according to The Hill.
While Vance is Christian, Usha was raised Hindu. In October 2025, Vance discussed the experience of raising children in an interfaith household. “She’s my best friend. We talk to each other about this stuff,” he said during a public appearance via Fox News. “So, we decided to raise our kids Christian. Our two oldest kids go to a Christian school. My 8-year-old was very proud of his First Communion.”

JD and Usha welcomed their first child, Ewan, in June 2017.
Few personal details are public, as the couple keeps their children mostly out of the spotlight. At the time of his birth, journalist Megyn Kelly congratulated the couple on social media, writing, “Congratulations, @JDVance1 and Usha! He’s beautiful.”

Their second son, Vivek, was born in February 2020.
Vance celebrated Vivek’s 4th birthday from the Senate floor in 2024, telling his son, “Daddy loves you very much,” before reading Oh, The Places You’ll Go! aloud and adding Vivek’s name into the final verse. The reading reportedly lasted about six minutes, as noted by The Hill.

Mirabel, 3
The couple welcomed their third child, daughter Mirabel, in December 2021.
Vance shared the joyful news in a now-deleted Instagram post, writing, “We were blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Everyone please meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mama and baby both doing great, and we’re feeling very grateful this Christmas season.”
