Several of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged victims spoke publicly on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 3, urging Congress to release more evidence about the billionaire predator.

Some of the Justice Department’s Epstein files were released the day before. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna hosted the bipartisan press conference, demanding full government transparency, including details about President Donald Trump’s history with Epstein.

Rep. Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, told Daily Mail that even though 33,295 pages of Epstein files were released on Tuesday, the Trump administration still has many more that remain secret. These could include important information about the president’s ties to Epstein.

“All information that’s been released so far, we already had… It’s our understanding there’s information at the CIA and possibly the FBI,” Garcia said. “I want to see where in the files is the president’s name, and how is it more broadly attached to what’s going on here?”

Trump has tried to distance himself from Epstein in recent years. He and his administration have promised to declassify and release the files, even during the 2024 campaign. But critics point to a 2002 interview with New York magazine, where Trump called Epstein a “terrific guy” and said, “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Chauntae Davies, a former actress and Epstein survivor, spoke at the press conference. She said she was introduced to Epstein by Ghislaine Maxwell, who promised to help her career, but it instead led to years of abuse, including trips to Epstein’s island.

Davies recalled being taken on a trip to Africa with former President Bill Clinton and others. While Clinton has said he knew nothing of Epstein’s crimes, Davies said Epstein often boasted about his powerful friends.

“Epstein surrounded himself with the most powerful leaders of our country and the world,” she said. “He bragged about his powerful friends, including our current president, Donald Trump. It was his biggest brag, actually.”

Davies later emphasized that Epstein frequently mentioned his close friendship with Trump. She claimed he even kept a framed photo of the two of them on his desk.

During the same time as the press conference, Trump met with Polish President Karol Nawrocki at the White House. When asked whether “friends” or “donors” were being protected by withholding Epstein files, Trump dismissed the question, repeating that the issue is a “Democrat hoax that never ends.”

“They’re trying to get people to talk about something that’s totally irrelevant to the success we’ve had as a nation since I’ve been president,” Trump said. “It reminds me a little of the Kennedy situation, we gave them everything, over and over again, more, more, more. And nobody’s ever satisfied.”

Davies is not the first to suggest that Trump and Epstein were closer than the president now admits. In July, Jack O’Donnell, who managed the Atlantic City Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in the 1980s, told CNN’s Erin Burnett that Epstein was likely Trump’s “best friend” during his time there. He said the two often visited the casino together.

O’Donnell also recalled one incident where Trump and Epstein brought three underage women onto the casino floor. While inspectors let them off with a warning, O’Donnell said he told Trump that continuing to spend time with Epstein and young women was “not gonna look good.”

“I did tell him in that conversation, ‘I don’t think you should be hanging out with this guy, just so you know, and you certainly shouldn’t be doing that in Atlantic City,’ ” he said.

When asked about O’Donnell’s claims, the White House strongly denied them.

“Jack O’Donnell is a stone cold loser who is a liar and fraud,” White House communications director Steven Cheung told PEOPLE. “This is completely fabricated story from his warped imagination as he suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his pea-sized brain.”
