Jenna Johnson is opening up about a difficult night with her little boy.
The Dancing with the Stars pro, 31, shared a heartfelt video on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Oct. 7, revealing that her 2-year-old son, Rome, had spent part of the night in the hospital. In the clip, Johnson lay in a hospital bed with Rome resting on her lap.
Her toddler wore an oxygen mask and was bundled under a blanket as the concerned mom panned the camera to show their close moment together.
“Wanna preface this by saying everything’s fine now and thank goodness Rome is home sleeping,” Johnson wrote over the clip. “But this was our night last night ❤️🩹.”
She later shared a tender photo featuring herself, her husband Val Chmerkovskiy, and Rome all cuddled together in the hospital bed.
“This guy right here. Our absolute rock through it all,” Johnson wrote, praising her husband. “This calm during the storm. Not one time mentioning his exhaustion or lack of sleep going into a show day. Only making sure that our baby is taken care of and mama is staying sane lol.”

“Beyond grateful to do life with you,” she added, alongside a few emojis.
This wasn’t the first time Johnson opened up about a hospital stay with her son. Back in May 2024, she posted a family photo from bed showing Rome nestled between his parents, sipping from a blue sippy cup. “Rough night last night ❤️🩹,” she captioned the image.
Another snapshot from that time showed Rome sitting on Chmerkovskiy’s leg in an ambulance, with a paramedic holding an oxygen mask to his face — Johnson added a broken heart emoji to the post.
In a video shared from that same night, Rome managed to smile and giggle as the paramedic gently placed the oxygen mask on him. “This would be our son,” Johnson wrote. “So insanely sick but flirting with the beautiful paramedic helping him.”
Later, Johnson updated her followers to thank them for their kind messages.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out!!” she wrote over a picture of Rome holding one of his toys. “Rome is doing much better today 🙏🏻 He caught a bad case of croup.”
She explained that her son had struggled to get enough oxygen during a coughing episode in the middle of the night. “We were all pretty hysterical and scared,” Johnson shared. “Thankfully doing much better today after seeing the doctors.”
