An obituary for Linda Stevenson — identified as the wife of Bill Stevenson, who was previously married to Dr. Jill Biden — does not mention her husband.

The obituary says Linda, 64, “passed away unexpectedly.” It notes she was “preceded in death by her beloved parents Charles and Bernice Barnes,” and adds that she is survived by “her daughter, Christina (Jeremy); her granddaughter, Ciara (Madison and Logan); her sister Cathy (Tom) Lancaster, nephew Jason and extended relatives.”

Linda was found unresponsive at her home in Delaware after police said they “responded to a reported domestic dispute” late at night on Dec. 28, 2025, according to a press release from the New Castle County Police Department.

“Officers immediately administered life-saving measures; however, despite their efforts, Linda Stevenson was later pronounced deceased,” the release said.

Her obituary lists her date of death as Dec. 29.

Police have said the investigation into Linda’s death remains ongoing as of Wednesday, Jan. 14. Authorities have not publicly stated whether they suspect foul play, and no charges have been filed in connection with her death. Her cause of death has not been released.

Bill Stevenson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.

The obituary describes Linda as “tenacious, kind-hearted, and fiercely loyal,” adding that her “strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family and friends will never be forgotten.”

It also highlights her work as the founder of BMB Bookkeeping, along with her love for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Before marrying Linda, Bill Stevenson was married to Jill Biden. The two wed in 1970 while she was in college and divorced in 1975. A biographer previously said she later reflected on the marriage as a painful disappointment, describing it as something she ultimately “compartmentalized” in order to move forward. Jill Biden later married Joe Biden in 1977.
