Jimmy Kimmel says he’s making a backup plan.

During the August 7 episode of The Sarah Silverman Podcast, the 57-year-old talk show host revealed that he recently got Italian citizenship.

“A lot of people I know are thinking about where they can get citizenship,” Sarah Silverman told Kimmel.

“I did get Italian citizenship,” Kimmel replied. “I do have that.”

Kimmel went on to criticize President Donald Trump’s time in office. “As bad as you thought it was going to be, it’s so much worse,” he said. “It’s unbelievable. I think it’s probably even worse than he would want it to be.”

Silverman said she hopes Trump voters regret their decision and that the presidency might eventually bring people together. Kimmel added, “If you want to change your mind, that’s hard. Admitting you were wrong is even harder.”

Kimmel and Trump have been publicly feuding for weeks, especially since The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was canceled on July 17. The announcement came after Colbert criticized CBS for making a large settlement with Trump.

CBS said the cancellation was purely a financial decision and had nothing to do with Colbert’s comments or the show’s performance.

After the news broke, Kimmel posted a clip of Colbert on Instagram with the caption, “Love you Stephen,” followed by a message aimed at CBS: “F— you and all your Sheldons CBS.”

That same day, Kimmel also posted photos of himself and his family at an anti-Trump protest. His caption included a cryptic reference to a letter Trump allegedly wrote to Jeffrey Epstein.

A few days later, Trump posted on Truth Social claiming, “The word is… Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, [Jimmy] Fallon will be gone.”

While Kimmel now holds Italian citizenship, other celebrities have made big moves in response to Trump’s presidency — Rosie O’Donnell has relocated to Ireland, and Ellen DeGeneres has moved to England.
