Like plenty of music fans, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt shared her 2025 Spotify Wrapped on social media this week — but her boss might not love one detail.

On her Instagram Story on Wednesday, Dec. 3, Leavitt posted her Top 5 most-played artists of the year. The list leaned heavily into country and worship music, with Morgan Wallen at No. 1, followed by Christian artists Forrest Frank, Brandon Lake and Anne Wilson.

Rounding out the list at No. 5, though, was Taylor Swift — a frequent target of President Donald Trump.

Leavitt didn’t reveal her top songs or albums, so it’s unclear which Taylor Swift “era” she spent the most time with. Swift’s catalogue ranges from early country tracks to pop anthems and more recent songs that many listeners have interpreted as politically charged.

The president’s latest wave of criticism toward Swift started after she endorsed Kamala Harris over him in the 2024 election last September. Trump vented on his Truth Social page at the time, writing, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” (His daughter Ivanka still took her daughter Arabella to the Eras Tour the next month.)

Once in office, he kept up the jabs. In May 2025, he posted, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’ ”

By late summer, however, his public tone toward Swift seemed to soften. After Swift announced her engagement to NFL star Travis Kelce on Aug. 26, Trump offered congratulations through reporters at the White House.

“I wish them a lot of luck,” he said during a televised Cabinet meeting. “I think he’s a great player and a great guy, and I think she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.”

Last month, it became clear that at least someone in the Trump administration is a full-on Swiftie.

On Nov. 2, the White House posted a video on its official TikTok account using Swift’s single “The Fate of Ophelia” from her album The Life of a Showgirl. The edit paired lyrics from the track with footage of Washington, D.C., the president, first lady Melania Trump, military personnel and more.

“Don’t care where the hell you been,” Swift sang over an image of Trump’s 2023 mug shot from his indictment related to efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

“’Cause now you’re mine,” the song continued, this time over a photo of Trump kissing the American flag.

“OUR VIBES,” the White House captioned the post, which has since racked up nearly a million likes.

While Swift stayed silent about the administration’s use of her music, fellow pop star Sabrina Carpenter pushed back after a similar edit used one of her songs.

On Dec. 1, the White House X account shared a video of ICE agents carrying out aggressive arrests, set to audio from Carpenter’s song “Juno.”

Within a day, Carpenter responded with a rare post on the platform. “This video is evil and disgusting,” she wrote. “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”

The 26-year-old singer’s reply quickly outperformed the original post, earning 1.6 million likes compared to the White House clip’s 84,000.
