Kate Beckinsale Makes Shocking Claim That Her Daughter’s Boyfriend ‘Laid 2 Eggs in a Week’: ‘I’m Ready for Another’

Kate Beckinsale brought an unforgettable story to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday, Nov. 24.

The 52-year-old actress appeared on the late night show to promote her new action film Wildcat, but the conversation took an unexpected turn when she claimed that her 26-year-old daughter Lily Sheen’s boyfriend had, on two separate occasions, naturally “laid” eggs.

Beckinsale began explaining that her family has been coping with intense grief after a difficult stretch: her mother, Judy Loe, died of cancer at 78 in July, and her stepfather, Roy Battersby, died in January 2024 at age 87. Amid that heartbreak, she said, this strange incident with Lily’s boyfriend became an oddly welcome distraction.

“We’ve had a tough couple of years, both my parents passed away within the last few years, and literally the only bright spot in the whole time came from him,” Beckinsale told host Jimmy Kimmel, 58. “He laid two eggs in a week, is what the bright spot was.”

When Kimmel asked her to clarify who exactly laid an egg, Beckinsale repeated that it was her daughter’s boyfriend and insisted the egg came from his body — complete with “a shell and a yolk.” She said he went to the bathroom and was stunned to discover an egg, and that she quickly became very invested in the mystery because she “really did need a distraction.”

According to Beckinsale, Lily’s boyfriend — whom she shares her daughter with ex Michael Sheen — was “genuinely scared” after the first incident. She described the egg as “a hard-boiled one, too, it kind of cooked inside him.”

A representative for Beckinsale declined to comment further on the story.

Beckinsale admitted she initially suspected the tale might be exaggerated. “I thought at first, ‘Okay, this is a little bit embellished, obviously he can’t — this doesn’t happen,’ ” she said. With so much happening in her family, she tried to brush it off as, “‘Okay, boyfriend’s laid an egg, whatever.’ ”

But then, a week later, while Lily was flying back to New York, Beckinsale received another anxious message. “I got a text that says, ‘Oh my God, he’s done it again, and now he’s really freaking out,’ ” she recalled, noting that he also has a severe tree nut allergy and they’ve had medical emergencies before — but this felt even more intense than “a tree nut emergency.”

When Kimmel asked if she believed him, Beckinsale said she did, largely because of how frightened he was. Still, she confronted him about the possibility that he might be faking it. “I said to him, ‘Is this some kind of attention-seeking [thing], are you putting eggs up your bottom?’ ” she recounted, adding that smuggling an egg in intact “is a skill.”

The second time, Lily sent photo evidence — which Beckinsale then showed privately to Kimmel and Guillermo Rodriguez. Kimmel’s reaction: “What in the world? Your daughter’s boyfriend is the Easter Bunny!”

Beckinsale said she has since consulted several doctors about what could explain the bizarre phenomenon. “All of them basically said it was some sort of complicated masturbation thing, which it wasn’t,” she insisted.

“So it’s my favorite thing he’s ever done and I really like him anyway,” she added with a laugh, “but it’s been a while and I’m ready for another one.”
