Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau Kiss on PDA-Filled Yacht Outing in California

Looks like the California coast is heating up — and not just from the sun.

Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau were photographed sharing a kiss aboard a yacht near Santa Barbara, according to images published by the Daily Mail on Oct. 12.

The 40-year-old singer and the 53-year-old politician appeared affectionate as they embraced on deck, with one snapshot showing Trudeau wrapping his arm around Perry while the two smiled and relaxed at sea.

The pair first fueled dating rumors back in July after being spotted together in Montreal.

Their first public sighting took place when the duo was seen walking a dog before heading out to dinner at Montreal’s Le Violon. The outing came shortly after Perry announced her split from fiancé Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from his wife Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage; the former couple shares three children.

Just days after that dinner, Trudeau was seen attending Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop at Montreal’s Bell Centre. Around that time, a Canadian source told PEOPLE that the two had felt an “instant connection.”

“They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes,” the source said in August. “She’s traveling the world, and he’s figuring out life after being prime minister, but there’s definitely chemistry. They have a lot in common.”

The source also noted that both Perry and Trudeau are balancing family life with new personal chapters. “Their responsibilities could make things progress slowly,” the insider explained. “But with co-parenting arrangements, there’s flexibility. Long-distance relationships are challenging, but not impossible for them.”

However, another source later clarified that their meeting might have been more casual than romantic.

“Although they have shared interests and plenty to talk about, dating just isn’t on her radar,” the insider said. “She’s kept in touch with Justin, but there are no plans for another meet-up right now.”
