Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were seen out and about together in Montreal, sparking curiosity with their low-key yet lively evening on Monday, July 28.
According to TMZ, the pop star and the ex-politician were first spotted strolling through Mount Royal Park earlier in the day. Trudeau, 53, kept things casual in jeans, a navy T-shirt, and a baseball cap, while Perry, 40, wore light jeans, a white top, matching flats, and a wide-brimmed sunhat that shielded most of her face. The singer also carried a small dog during their walk.
Later that evening, the pair were seen dining at the popular neighborhood spot Le Violon. A restaurant representative told PEOPLE that Perry and Trudeau had a “fantastic evening,” even visiting the kitchen after their meal to personally thank the staff and meet Chef Danny Smiles. “They were super kind and friendly to the staff, and it was an absolute pleasure to have them at the restaurant,” the rep added.
Their night didn’t end there. TMZ reported that the two were later seen getting drinks together at Taverne Atlantic, continuing what appeared to be a relaxed and friendly outing.
The sighting comes a month after PEOPLE confirmed Perry had ended her engagement to actor Orlando Bloom, 48, following a nine-year on-and-off relationship. In a joint statement, reps for the former couple said they had been “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting” their 4½-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove. “Their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect,” the statement read.
Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from wife Sophie Grégoire in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The former couple share three children: Xavier, 17, Ella-Grace, 16, and Hadrien, 11. At the time, Trudeau emphasized in an Instagram post that they would remain “a close family with deep love and respect,” and asked for privacy for the sake of their children.
No official comments have been made by either Perry or Trudeau about the nature of their evening together, but the Montreal outing has certainly caught public attention.
