Just a month after ending her longtime relationship with Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry was seen out for dinner in Montreal with none other than former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
The 40-year-old singer and the 53-year-old political figure were spotted dining at Le Violon, a popular neighborhood restaurant, on Monday, July 28. According to sources, the two shared cocktails and sampled several dishes—including one featuring lobster—before visiting the kitchen to personally thank Chef Danny Smiles and his team.
PEOPLE confirmed the dinner outing, but Perry’s rep declined to comment. Attempts to reach Trudeau’s office for a statement were also unanswered as of press time.
The sighting has stirred speculation about a potential romance, coming shortly after both Perry and Trudeau entered new chapters in their personal lives.
Back in June, Perry and Bloom officially called off their engagement, bringing an end to a nine-year on-and-off relationship that began in 2016. Bloom proposed in 2019, and while the couple never married, they welcomed a daughter, Daisy Dove, now 4½ years old. In a joint statement to PEOPLE following the split, their reps said the pair were “shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
Despite the breakup, Perry and Bloom were recently seen vacationing together off the Amalfi Coast aboard a yacht with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos on July 6, signaling a continued amicable relationship for the sake of their daughter.
As for Trudeau, he and his wife Sophie Grégoire announced their separation in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage. The couple—who share three children, Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien—emphasized that their split was mutual and respectful. Trudeau noted at the time that they remain “a close family” and asked for privacy as they navigate the transition.
The dinner between Perry and Trudeau is the first time the two have been publicly linked. While there’s no confirmation of a romantic relationship, their outing has certainly sparked intrigue.
For now, both appear to be enjoying life’s next phase—perhaps with new connections on the horizon.
