Katy Perry, 40, and Orlando Bloom, 48, have officially confirmed their split, but the former couple is making it clear that their focus remains firmly on co-parenting their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
A few days after reports of their separation surfaced, representatives for both Perry and Bloom shared a joint statement with U.S. media, affirming that the decision was mutual and gradual. The statement reveals that the couple had already begun transitioning their relationship into a co-parenting partnership in the months leading up to the announcement.
“Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement reads. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
The couple’s relationship began in January 2016, though they briefly parted ways soon after. They rekindled their romance in 2018 and got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019. In March 2020, Katy revealed her pregnancy, and the pair welcomed Daisy in August that year.
Though wedding rumors followed the engagement—fueled by Perry occasionally referring to herself as Bloom’s “new wife”—the marriage never materialized. (Bloom was previously married to model Miranda Kerr from 2010 to 2013.)
Signs of strain emerged earlier this year. According to an ET report, Perry’s heavily criticized space-themed project and her busy tour schedule may have placed added pressure on their relationship. PEOPLE confirmed the couple’s split in late June, with the official joint statement arriving in early July.
Despite the end of their romantic relationship, Perry appears to be keeping things light-hearted. Just days after the announcement, she posted a TikTok video of herself dancing on the beach, suggesting she’s embracing the next chapter.
So, while their love story may have ended, it’s clear Perry and Bloom are aligned when it comes to what matters most: their daughter.
