Katy Perry’s latest trip to Tokyo came with a major relationship milestone — and a very different vibe from the one she shared with ex Orlando Bloom in Japan just a year earlier.
The 41-year-old singer posted a carousel of photos and videos from her time in Japan for her Lifetimes Tour on Saturday, Dec. 6. Among the clips was a cozy sushi-restaurant moment with Justin Trudeau, 53, effectively making their relationship Instagram official.
In the video, Perry gamely samples uni, a local delicacy, while Trudeau looks on, smiling. She captioned the post, “Tokyo times on tour and more ( ◠‿◠ ) 🎄🍣🐡🥞💐☃️♥️.”
Fans who’ve been following Perry for a while may recognize the setting. The “143” artist previously shared a clip from what appeared to be the same restaurant in an Instagram video last year.
In that earlier New Year’s Eve post, she and Bloom, 48, quietly sipped sake together on camera. The caption then read, “Sending love to all in this next year… the new year is always an opportunity for transformation… as a 5x ♏️ transformation is my middle name… ✨.”

“We put the OK in tOKyo for NY 🎊🎍,” she added at the time.
Representatives for both Perry and Bloom did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Sunday, Dec. 7.
Perry and Trudeau first sparked romance buzz over the summer, when the two were seen out together on a date in Montreal, Canada.
At the time of that first public outing, the “Bandaids” singer had recently ended her engagement, splitting from her ex-fiancé in June.
Trudeau, for his part, had separated from his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.
Perry and Bloom were together for nine years and share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
A source previously said that Trudeau had “been pursuing” the Grammy-nominated star since their Montreal dates.

“He even flew to California to see her during a tour break,” the insider shared. “They have an easy connection. She finds him attractive. He’s been very respectful.”
Perry and Trudeau made their first public appearance as a couple on Oct. 25, when they stepped out for a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse Paris to celebrate her birthday, according to TMZ.
In photos from the night, the pair could be seen leaving the theater hand in hand, smiling — a preview, it seems, of the soft-launch moment that just arrived on Perry’s Instagram from Tokyo.
