A “catastrophic flooding event” sparked by the overflowing Guadalupe River has led to mass evacuations across Kerrville and other parts of Kerr County, Texas. In response to the rapidly worsening conditions, the City of Kerrville has issued an official disaster declaration.
Flash flooding submerged several neighborhoods and roadways after heavy rainfall caused the river to swell beyond its banks. The National Weather Service declared a flash flood emergency at 6:30 a.m. Friday, urging residents to take immediate action.
“If you are along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, move to higher ground now,” the NWS alert warned. “Avoid travel throughout the county this morning.”
Multiple streets and low-lying areas in Kerrville are under water, with the following roads particularly impacted:
- Arcadia Loop
- Most of Thompson Drive
- Guadalupe Street
- Lowry Street
- Herzog and Loop 13
- Rio Robles
- Riverside Drive
- Parts of Broadway
Officials are continuing to monitor the situation and are urging residents to stay informed, avoid flooded roads, and follow evacuation orders where issued.
