Kimberly Guilfoyle is reflecting on her romantic past — and hinting at a hopeful future.
The U.S. ambassador to Greece and former Fox News host, 56, recently shared a candid moment about her 2001 marriage to California Gov. Gavin Newsom during a Nov. 4 conversation with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas, according to the Daily Mail. Guilfoyle, appointed ambassador earlier this year by President Donald Trump following the end of her engagement to Donald Trump Jr., opened up when asked whether she had ever been to Greece before assuming her new role.
“I actually covered the Olympic Games in 2004 for ABC News,” she said, adding with a smile, “I also had a honeymoon here in 2004. Fabulous honeymoon but…”
When Tasoulas joked, “Honeymoon was fabulous, but the marriage?” Guilfoyle replied, “We’ll work on getting a new husband.”

Guilfoyle and Newsom married in 2001, when she was serving in the San Francisco district attorney’s office and he was a member of the city’s board of supervisors. The San Francisco Chronicle described their wedding as “a royal wedding. Social event of the year. The two hottest public servants in San Francisco get hitched.”
In 2003, Guilfoyle left her prosecutorial role to support Newsom’s campaign for mayor. After he took office in 2004, the pair separated later that year and finalized their divorce in February 2006.
Guilfoyle’s remarks come less than a year after her engagement to Donald Trump Jr. ended. Following her split from Newsom, she embraced conservative politics and joined Fox News, where she worked as a host and commentator from 2006 to 2018. Her media career eventually led to a connection with the Trump family through Don Jr., with whom she began dating in 2018.

The couple made numerous political appearances together, including at the 2020 and 2024 Republican National Conventions, and became engaged on New Year’s Eve 2020.
By late 2024, however, the relationship ended shortly after Trump Jr. was seen with Florida socialite Bettina Anderson. Just one day after he was photographed holding hands with Anderson on Dec. 9, President Trump appointed Guilfoyle as U.S. Ambassador to Greece.
Her Nov. 4 meeting with President Tasoulas officially marked the start of her tenure, according to the Associated Press.
