As snow blanketed Louisville and cars started getting stuck across the city, the Louisville Metro Police Department found a way to keep people laughing — even while working around the clock.

During the winter storm, the department’s official X account went viral for a series of self-aware, tongue-in-cheek posts that poked fun at drivers, the weather and even the officers themselves.

While crews were busy responding to calls and helping stranded motorists, the department leaned into humor online, sharing photos and videos of officers pushing cars out of the snow — and joking about the unexpected workout that came with it.

One post read, “We’ve pushed so many cars today the officers are adding ‘personal trainer’ to their résumés. Don’t skip leg day.”

Another post noted that even city leadership wasn’t escaping the conditions. “Even our mayor doesn’t skip leg day,” the department wrote alongside a photo of people helping push a stuck vehicle, adding, “Eventually, the mayor just picks up the car and puts it back on the street. (Stop getting stuck, people).”

The posts often paired humor with practical reminders, too. “If your car is stuck, stay put,” one message read. “An LMPD officer will be along shortly to push, pull, lift, drag, or simply judge you.”

Not all of the jokes centered on snowbanks and sore legs. One post highlighted a driver who left most of the snow piled on their windshield — clearing only a small patch to see the road. “You do you, king. Sigh,” the department wrote, drawing laughs and likely a few cringes from other drivers.

In another video, officers helped a resident push a car free as the caption declared, “Our cops don’t skip leg day. Another happy customer.” The mix of visual proof and dry humor helped the posts travel far beyond Louisville.

As engagement climbed, the department leaned into the moment even more, posting a poll asking followers whether its social media tone should stay “Balanced” or remain “unhinged.”

WHAS11 reported that the posts quickly drew national attention, with media outlets reaching out to find out who was behind the account. The station also noted that officers were logging long hours responding to weather-related calls, assisting drivers and rescuing people from the cold overnight.

Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg later addressed the viral posts, stressing that while the tone online was light, the work on the ground was serious. He said officers remained focused on public safety, even as they used humor to connect with residents during the storm.

Alongside the jokes, the department also shared lighter moments from the weather event, including photos of officers sledding and having snowball fights with kids — a reminder that even during tough conditions, small moments of joy can still break through.
