WASHINGTON — A prominent “America First” national security strategist and vocal supporter of President Donald Trump has issued a scathing rebuke of the administration’s escalating military campaign in Iran, labeling the current trajectory an “impeachable offense.”

David Pyne, a former U.S. Army combat arms officer and current Deputy Director for the EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security, warned this week that the White House’s reliance on Kurdish proxies and Israeli military objectives is leading the United States into a “forever war” folly. Pyne’s comments come as Operation Epic Fury—the joint U.S.-Israeli offensive launched on February 28, 2026—enters its second week following the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Push for a Kurdish Uprising

The internal rift within the MAGA base follows reports that the CIA is actively arming Iranian Kurdish opposition forces. The strategy, according to sources familiar with the plan, aims to foment a popular uprising in Western Iran to overextend Tehran’s remaining security apparatus.

Mustafa Hijri, chairman of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI), reportedly held high-level discussions with President Trump regarding a looming ground operation. While the administration views the Kurds as a critical lever for regime change, analysts like Pyne argue the move is a strategic miscalculation.

“Trump is now planning to invade a country that is nearly four times larger than Iraq with twice as many people,” Pyne stated, noting that Iran’s refusal to surrender—even after the loss of its supreme leader—has dashed hopes for a “quick war.”

Predicted Midterm Fallout

With the 2026 midterm elections just eight months away, the political stakes are reaching a breaking point. Current generic ballot polling shows Democrats holding a lead as public approval of the war effort begins to waver under the threat of regional instability and rising energy costs.

Pyne’s forecast for the November elections is dire for the Republican party:

“The result will likely be a war that could last a year or more with several thousand U.S. military servicemen coming home in body bags just in time for the November midterm elections, fueling Democrat calls for his third impeachment.”

Strategic Subordination or National Interest?

The core of the “America First” critique rests on the belief that U.S. foreign policy has been “subordinated” to regional allies. Pyne drew sharp parallels to the Iraq War, accusing the current administration of risking American lives to further “expansionary designs” rather than clear U.S. national security interests.

The administration has dismissed these concerns, maintaining that the strikes were necessary to neutralize Iran’s nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile threat. However, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in Qatar and the UAE have heightened fears of a prolonged, high-intensity conflict.

What Lies Ahead

As the “Coalition of Political Forces of Iranian Kurdistan” prepares for its promised ground offensive, the White House faces a narrowing window to achieve its stated goal of “unconditional surrender.” Should the conflict descend into the protracted urban warfare Pyne predicts, the Republican grip on Congress may face its most significant challenge since the 2024 election.
