A bride felt hurt when her maid of honor disappeared just days before her wedding and then shared something surprising online.
One bridesmaid shared the story on Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum. She explained that everything was going smoothly until the maid of honor “ghosted” the bride just 10 days before the wedding.
The maid of honor suddenly stopped responding to messages in the group chat, even though there had been no fights or disagreements. Before going silent, the bride had asked her to confirm her speech and arrival time for the rehearsal dinner—“nothing crazy or last-minute.”
“No response. No call. No email,” the bridesmaid wrote. “Her read receipts were on, so we know she saw the messages.”

The bride started “freaking out,” not only because she lost the support of one of her closest friends, but also because her maid of honor had her wedding veil, and she had no backup.
“We all thought maybe there was an emergency or something serious going on, so we gave her space,” the bridesmaid said.
Four days after disappearing, the maid of honor posted something surprising on Instagram.
“She’s at a cabin in the mountains. Yoga pose. ‘Disconnecting from drama and reconnecting with myself’ that was the caption,” the Redditor said. “A few of us commented like, ‘Hey… are you okay??’ and she DELETED the comments.”
Even worse, the maid of honor was at the cabin with the same man she “swore she broke up with months ago,” who had previously caused a scene at the bride’s engagement party.
“I’m baffled at how someone could ghost their best friend’s wedding a week before and then act like it’s some self-care moment,” the bridesmaid said. She added that no one has heard from the maid of honor since, and she still hasn’t returned the veil.

“Total radio silence. No calls, no texts, no ghostly sightings,” she wrote.
Reddit users in the comments were shocked by the situation. Some even suggested the bride could pursue legal action to get her veil back.
“That’s someone else’s property. They could get a police escort to retrieve it,” one person commented. Another added, “Especially with how expensive they can be. Plus, getting another one on short notice isn’t easy.”
The bridesmaid responded to a comment suggesting calling the police, saying, “The veil belongs to the bride, and she absolutely has the right to get it back. Once that’s sorted, going no contact seems like the healthiest move for everyone involved.”
