A 30-year-old New York man has been charged with murdering his parents inside their family’s Italian deli on Long Island.
The Nassau County Police Department said Vito D’Ambrosio was arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Friday, Dec. 5, in connection with a fatal stabbing at A&A Italian Deli and Pizza in Bethpage.
According to police, Vito is accused of killing his mother, 62-year-old Angela Pulisciano, and his father, 70-year-old Antonio D’Ambrosio, inside the store.
Authorities allege that around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, Vito drove to the deli, went into a back room, and stabbed his mother in the throat before turning on his father, CBS New York reported.
Officers responding to the scene found Vito in the parking lot with blood on his hands and clothing and took him into custody, police said.
Officials also allege that, shortly before the stabbings, Vito was involved in a separate incident at a nearby coffee shop.
“He slapped the buttocks of one of the female clerks in [a local] coffee shop. That was reported to 911. Shortly thereafter, driving right up to where the murders took place,” Nassau County Police Det. Lt. George Darienzo said, according to CBS.
Court records obtained by CBS and ABC 7 New York indicate that Vito was estranged from his family at the time of the killings. In November, a judge issued an order of protection against him after a domestic dispute with a sibling.

When he was arrested, Vito was wearing an ankle monitor tied to another case, police said. One customer told CBS that Vito appeared to admit what he had done before officers arrived.
“I just seen the son walking out and he said, ‘I stabbed my parents.’ And that was it,” Joe Boros told the outlet.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Bethpage community has rallied around the family. Supporters have launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist the couple’s other sons and daughter with funeral expenses.
“They were good people. This was tragic, really. They had a beautiful family,” longtime customer Lorraine Decanio told CBS.
“They were just wonderful people. We’ve known them for decades and shopped here all the time,” Maryann Karageorges added.
The GoFundMe page honoring Tony and Angela describes how deeply they were woven into the neighborhood’s daily life. “For more than 30 years, Tony and Angela devoted their lives to serving all of us,” the message reads. “Straight from Italy, they built their deli with love, humility and pure dedication. They never overcharged, never complained, and never treated anyone as just a customer. To them, we were all family.”
“Their English was broken, but their love spoke perfectly,” the tribute continues. “Every cup of coffee, every egg sandwich, every warm smile — all of it came from their hearts.”
Vito is currently hospitalized with injuries and is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation, police told ABC.
He has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder involving multiple victims and is scheduled to return to court on Dec. 9, according to CBS.
