Universal released a statement saying, “We are devastated by this tragic event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest’s loved ones. We are fully cooperating with Orange County and the ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed.”
It is not yet clear when the ride will reopen.
Epic Universe opened in May 2025 and is Universal’s newest theme park.
The Stardust Racers roller coaster is part of the park’s Celestial Park area. According to Universal Orlando Resorts’ website, the ride can reach speeds up to 62 mph and is compared to “riding a shooting star across the cosmos.” It goes as high as 133 feet and runs on about 5,000 feet of track.
