Mary Trump, a longtime critic and niece of President Donald Trump, has expressed serious concerns about her uncle’s mental and physical health, suggesting he may be showing early signs of Alzheimer’s — just as his father did at a similar age.
Speaking on The Dean Oby Show, Mary, 60, said, “He looks terrible. I don’t say that to attack him — it’s just an observation. He looks exhausted, puffy, and disheveled most of the time.”
Mary emphasized that while she isn’t a neurologist, she has seen Alzheimer’s firsthand in her family. “My grandfather, Fred Trump, began showing symptoms in his late 70s. Donald is now 79. And the progression with Fred was steep — it started gradually, but within years he couldn’t recognize people he’d known his entire life.”
Mary claims some of Donald Trump’s recent behavior matches what she saw in her grandfather’s decline, particularly a loss of impulse control and confusion about time, place, and people.
“This isn’t new,” she added. “But it’s worse now. He often doesn’t seem oriented, and that’s extremely dangerous for someone with access to the nuclear codes.”
Referencing an incident where Trump dropped the F-word in front of reporters, Mary said, “He’s lost awareness of what’s appropriate and what isn’t. That lack of control is alarming.”
Fred Trump III, another family member and author of All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way, has also voiced concerns. On the same show, he said, “I’m not a doctor, but I’ve seen this before — in my grandfather Fred, in our aunt Maryanne, and in Donald’s cousin. Dementia runs in the family.”
He continued: “Donald claimed his father was ‘tiptop’ until the end — that’s just not true. I know what I saw in our grandfather. And Donald looks like him now.”
Despite family concerns, a recent White House medical report stated President Trump is in “excellent health” and “fully fit” for office, citing recent lab work and cognitive tests.
Still, Mary concluded, “Awards, speeches, even medical reports — none of that changes what we can all plainly see. My uncle isn’t the same. And it’s getting harder for him to hide it.”
