Meghan Trainor is weighing in—at least with humor—on the online chatter surrounding the so-called “mom group drama.”

On Thursday, Jan. 8, the 32-year-old singer posted a TikTok that appeared to reference the conversation sparked by Ashley Tisdale French’s viral essay for The Cut about a “toxic” mom group. Trainor, who has been rumored online to be connected to the group, joked about how she learned the drama had erupted.

“Me finding out about the apparent mom group drama,” Trainor wrote across a video showing her seated at a computer, typing and reacting with exaggerated shock. The clip was set to her new single “Still Don’t Care,” from her upcoming album Toy with Me (out April 24).

In the caption, she added: “☕️☕️☕️ #stilldontcare.” Trainor shares two sons—Barry, 2, and Riley, 4½—with her husband, Daryl Sabara.

Tisdale French, 40, first shared her story as a blog post in November 2025 before it was published in The Cut on Jan. 1. In the essay, she wrote about leaving her mom friend group last year after experiencing behavior that made her feel as if she’d been transported back to high school. She described initially feeling grateful to find women who understood the same season of life—but said she later began to feel increasingly shut out, including being excluded from an event planned during her daughter’s birthday party.

Although she did not name anyone in the essay, fans quickly began circulating older photos and speculating about who might have been part of the group, pointing to images that appeared to include Gaby Dalkin, Hilary Duff, Trainor, Mandy Moore and others.

Neither Moore nor Duff has publicly responded. However, Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, appeared to mock the situation with a parody-style Instagram Stories post on Jan. 6. In it, he recreated the same pose as Tisdale French in her The Cut photo, added The Cut logo, and included a fictional headline: “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers,” along with a sub-headline: “A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes.”

He captioned the post: “Read my new interview with @TheCut.”

As the discussion spread online, a source close to the group said the tension centered on differing priorities.

“It was a misalignment of values that Ashley decided to make public,” the source said. “Friends naturally drift apart. It didn’t warrant a dramatic breakup text.”

Trainor and Koma weren’t the only ones hinting at the headlines. Dalkin also appeared to acknowledge the viral moment with a post on Instagram Threads.

“Slowly coming back online after 2 weeks of family time, all the kid activities, and copious amounts of Christmas crack and cookies,” she wrote. “What did I miss??? 😆😆😆😆.”
