Megyn Kelly Sparks Controversy with Comments on Jeffrey Epstein and Definition of Pedophilia
Megyn Kelly raised eyebrows on a recent episode of her Sirius XM program The Megyn Kelly Show while discussing convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the allegations tied to him.
During the Wednesday, Nov. 12 broadcast, Kelly and guest Batya Ungar-Sargon addressed the House Oversight Committee’s release of multiple emails sent by Epstein, including those in which he referenced President Donald Trump.
Kelly acknowledged Epstein’s abuse of underage girls, saying: “[Epstein] did like them young, and there were several young women who he did this to who were minors, who were underage. There’s just no question about that.” She also insisted Trump was not involved, adding, “That is a true fact about Jeffrey Epstein. But that is not a true fact about Donald Trump.”
Kelly then claimed she had been told years ago by someone “very, very close” to the case — whom she described as being “in a position to know virtually everything” — that Epstein “was not a pedophile.”
“He was into the barely legal type. Like, he liked 15-year-old girls,” she said. “I’m definitely not trying to make an excuse for this. I’m just giving you facts, that he wasn’t into, like, 8-year-olds. But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.”

Kelly continued by referencing comments made by Pam Bondi regarding alleged evidence found in Epstein’s possession. She said she only then began to consider that Epstein could be “an actual pedophile,” adding, “Only a pedophile gets off on young children abuse videos.” Still, Kelly stated she no longer fully trusts Bondi’s assertions on the matter.
The host went on to claim, “We have yet to see anybody come forward and say, ‘I was under 10, I was under 14 when I first came within his purview.’ You can say that’s a distinction without a difference. I think there is a difference. There’s a difference between a 15-year-old and a 5-year-old, you know?”
On Nov. 12, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released three email exchanges between Epstein and others. Hours later, Republicans on the same committee released roughly 20,000 pages of documents from the Epstein estate.
In one of the emails from April 2, 2011, Epstein wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell: “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump. [Redacted victim’s name] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.”
Another email, sent Jan. 31, 2019, to Trump biographer Michael Wolff, read: “[Redacted victim’s name] mara lago,” followed by a redacted portion. “Trump said he asked me to resign, never a member ever. . of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.”
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded in a statement, saying Democrats “selectively leaked emails… to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump.” She stated the “unnamed victim” referenced is the late Virginia Giuffre, who she said had previously maintained that Trump “was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever.”
Leavitt added: “The fact remains that President Trump kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club decades ago for being a creep to his female employees, including Giuffre. These stories are nothing more than bad-faith efforts to distract from President Trump’s historic accomplishments, and any American with common sense sees right through this hoax.”
