A young boy was safely rescued from the monorail tracks at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania after wandering away from his parents.
The child was reported missing around 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, after being separated from his mother, a Hersheypark spokesperson told PEOPLE.
Park staff later discovered that the boy had slipped into the monorail station, which was closed at the time. He remained in the area for about 20 minutes before climbing onto the tracks.
“The ride was closed and safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile at the platform,” the spokesperson explained.

Team members acted quickly once the child was spotted. By 5:28 p.m., he was safely reunited with his family and was not injured.
In a video posted on YouTube, the boy looked confused as he walked along the elevated monorail tracks while park visitors watched from below. Guests waved their arms, signaling for him to move toward a nearby building.
A man was seen standing on the roof of that building with his arms outstretched. “Go to him now!” someone shouted. The man then jumped onto the tracks, picked up the child, and carried him to safety, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark,” the park spokesperson told PEOPLE.
