A Georgia dentist who was reported missing has been found safe nearly a week later, authorities confirmed.

Dr. Melanie Nadler Litt, 52, was last seen on Monday, Oct. 13, according to a social media post from the Cobb County Police Department. She was reported missing the next day after failing to show up for work, according to WXIA-TV. When officers conducted a welfare check, they found her phone at home — but both her car and wallet were gone.

Friends later told the outlet that Litt’s car was discovered abandoned in a parking lot. WXIA-TV also reported that her husband, who was out of state at the time, was the one who alerted police when she went missing.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, police shared an update announcing that Litt had been located safe.

That same day, a former patient spotted her near the Town Center Mall in Marietta, according to WAGA-TV.

“I asked her, ‘Hey, are you a dentist? Do you remember me by any chance — you removed my wisdom teeth many years ago?’ ” Billy Robertson recalled to the outlet. “It was just a one-in-a-million shot, I guess I’m good at recognizing faces.” Robertson said he then called 911.

After confirming Litt’s safety, police told Atlanta News First that “we would like to reassure everyone that Melanie was not in any danger, and there is no indication of foul play.”
