An Arizona woman has been arrested after police say they found her naked and kneeling over her mother outside a bloodied home in Scottsdale, where the mother had suffered multiple stab wounds.
The mother — whose name and age have not been released — survived the attack, according to a probable cause statement reviewed by this outlet. The incident occurred Monday, Feb. 2.
Her 24-year-old daughter, Ashland Trinity Crank, was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges, including attempted murder, according to the statement, which was obtained and uploaded online by Law & Crime.
Police: Daughter Found Nude at Scene
Scottsdale officers responding to a reported stabbing said they found the mother lying on the ground outside the garage, with Crank kneeling over her while nude.
A 911 caller told police she heard “guttural” screams for help coming from the location, and reported seeing Crank completely nude, wearing only a head covering, according to the statement. Police said Crank partially covered herself with a blanket after officers arrived in the neighborhood.
Evidence Inside Home
Police documented that the victim had multiple “puncture wounds and incised wounds consistent with sharp force trauma.” The mother allegedly told officers at the scene that Crank stabbed her.
Officers who searched the home reported finding blood on the stairs and throughout the first floor. They also said they recovered a knife with a broken blade that appeared to have blood and hair on it.
Conflicting Accounts, Arrest Made
Crank allegedly told police that her mother had stabbed herself, but provided differing versions of what happened, the statement alleges. Investigators said the physical evidence at the scene did not match her accounts, and she was arrested.
Crank has since been charged with second-degree attempted murder, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct involving a weapon, and kidnapping, according to the statement.
Online court records for Maricopa County list limited details about the case, and do not indicate whether Crank has retained an attorney. It is also unclear when she is expected to appear in court.
