A mom returned home from a quick errand and was shocked to find her husband not watching their children.

Posting on the forum Mumsnet, she said she was “furious” after discovering that her husband left their kids inside the house while he went outside to mow the lawn.

“I come back to find my husband out the back mowing the lawn, all very pleased with himself,” she wrote. “He had apparently told our 8-year-old daughter to ‘keep an eye on’ the baby while he did it. Baby is 16 months.”

When she walked into the house, she was stunned by what she saw.

“I walked in to find our baby in the living room COVERED in biro scribbles,” she explained, saying her daughter had drawn all over the baby with a pen. “Face, arms, even a bit on her sleepsuit. Our daughter said she was ‘playing schools’ and my husband thinks it is hilarious. I did not.”

The mother was upset and said the situation could have been dangerous.

“I am SO angry,” she admitted. “Yes, our baby is fine, but that is not the point. What if she had choked on a pen lid? What if she had fallen? An 8-year-old is a CHILD, not a babysitter.”

Her husband dismissed her worries, saying she was overreacting and that it was “only 15 minutes.”

Other Mumsnet users shared their thoughts.

One commenter said, “I think your husband was reasonable,” while another wrote, “Your 8-year-old has been naughty. That’s what you need to deal with, rather than ‘fuming’ at your husband.”

But not everyone agreed.

“I don’t agree with the majority — I wouldn’t leave an 8-year-old to watch a small baby, far too risky and anything can happen,” another user responded. “I’d be livid with my husband as well!”
