A mother of three says she feels “very resentful” of her friend who is pregnant for the first time and “never really spent any time” with her children.

The mom explained on the community forum Mumsnet that her friend has only seen her kids a few times over the years.

“She has always asked about them and supported me in other ways, but now that she is pregnant, it is all she wants to talk about — and it’s very me me me,” the woman wrote about her friend.

“It’s driving me insane and I feel very resentful,” she admitted, before asking, “Has anyone else experienced this and how did you deal with it?”

Other parents on Mumsnet shared their advice, while some disagreed with the mother’s feelings.

One reader said, “This is common, to be honest. Whether you give her a taste of her own medicine or act like you would’ve acted if the tables were turned is up to you and how much you want the friendship in your life.”

Another person was surprised by the mother’s expectations, writing, “I didn’t know we were obligated to spend time with our friend’s children. It doesn’t sound like she’s done anything wrong. It’s not like she’s ignored their existence.”

A third user gave a blunt suggestion: “If you value her friendship, just suck it up and offer the advice. It’s nice that you now have this important life experience to share; it will probably bring you closer as friends.”
